The Beaches of Highway 30A

The Beaches of Highway 30A

Well they don`t call it the Emerald Coast for nothing! Obviously the beaches are the main draw for most visitors. The sand is soft and has very few shells, and the water is 100 shades of turquoise for as far as you can see (and shallow pretty far out). The waves typically are smaller on the Gulf than other places which makes it great for families. Many of the public beaches along 30A are wonderful because they aren`t over-crowded, and some even have a lifeguard on duty in the summer.

Things to Do & See

Things to Do & See

Light Me Up Beach Bonfires (All Along Highway 30A) This is one of the most fun things to do on a beach vacation! The sweet family that owns this company sets up bonfires at various locations along the beach, but you do need to make reservations and it is weather dependent. They can also accommodate large groups and will even set up s`mores bars, a bluetooth speaker, cornhole and food upon request! Shell Island Boat Rentals (Panama City Beach) It is about a 30-45 minute drive from 30A to the Shell Island boat rental places, but so worth it. Rent a pontoon, pack a cooler, get a group together and go! It`s a short ride to Shell Island once you`re on the boat, which is a really neat island with the Bay on one side and the ocean on the other - and that beach actually has lots of shells! People tie up their boats and basically have a party, such a fun day! Golf Cart Rentals This is probably one of the best things to do while visiting 30A. It really is an absolute must! Because golf carts are street legal along Highway 30A, this is a great way to toy around and see the various towns. It`s such a fun vacation-y thing to have/do, not to mention the kids LOVE it! It is also a preferred method of transportation to get to and from the beach (just throw in all the wet + sandy stuff)! Take it to get donuts in the morning or even for something you may have forgotten at the store. You can rent them in a variety of sizes (4 seater, 6 seater, etc.). The rates vary greatly depending on the time of year, so be sure to book in advance! Also always check out the latest local calendars of events the week you go as there`s always fun local activities going on! Seaside and Rosemary Beach both routinely have outdoor farmers markets that are lovely, in addition to seasonal festivals. And lastly, another quintessential thing to do is have professional pictures taken on the beach - or just take pictures in coordinated outfits! They are great framers for the whole family to commemorate the trip and you`ll cherish them for years to come!
